Dr. Benjamin W. Johnson, Jr., M.D. is a board-certified pain specialist. He is a former Associate Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and former Director of the Vanderbilt Pain Control Center.
Dr. Johnson came to Vanderbilt following four years as Director of the Anesthesiology Pain Clinic at the University of Louisville, Kentucky. He was appointed as Director of the Vanderbilt Pain Control Center in 1997.
As a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) and the American Board of Pain Medicine (ABPM), Dr. Johnson is recognized for his expertise in pain management.
Dr. Johnson has authored or coauthored more than 40 articles and book chapters and has served as a reviewer for several medical journals. His clinical interests include spinal pain, interventional pain procedures, and advanced therapies for chronic pain.
Outside of his medical career, Dr. Johnson enjoys the outdoors. He loves fishing and traveling abroad.
